Figure 1, however, reveals a failure of these cells to mature to adipocytes in the absence of GLO1. This is confirmed via Oil Red O staining and triglyceride quantification (Fig. 1). To further characterize the role of GLO1 in adipogenesis, we quantified the levels of MGO and MGO-derived PTMs, given their implications in obesity. We observe that, despite a failure to undergo adipogenesis, GLO1−/− cells have a significant elevation in MGO and MGO-derived PTMs (Fig. 1). Here, GLO1 is linked to obesity disorder.
