Leucine-rich α2-glycoprotein 1 (LRG1) is a pleiotropic leucine-rich repeat sequence protein that has been shown to be involved in the process of CIRI.[72] To investigate the exact role of Lrg1 in RIRI, Chen et al[73] established a mouse RIRI model and an HK-2 cell hypoxia model to explore the nephroprotective mechanism of silencing Lrg1 and found that Lrg1 silencing could serve as a potential therapeutic target for inhibiting the TGFβ1-Smad1/5 pathway, thereby enhancing autophagy and reducing apoptosis in patients with AKI.
