Many members of the conserved (TRIM) and novel (FinTRIM and Blood Thirsty) TRIM gene family are significantly upregulated in response to infection; 5 types of TRIM genes (trim35, trim25, trim3b, trim69 and trim16), 8 different FinTRIM genes (finTRIM72, finTRIM12, finTRIM66, finTRIM82, finTRIM67, finTRIM13, finTRIM14 and finTRIM16) and two blood thirsty gene family members (bty18, bty4) are upregulated. This evidence concerns the gene TRIM16 and infection.
