Novel benzothiazole derivatives, for example, have shown promise as GPR183 antagonists for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)6 and as strong inhibitors of phosphoinositide 3-kinase γ (PI3Kγ), which is linked to inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.7 Additional derivatives have the potential to treat cell death-related disorders as they preferentially inhibit RIPK1, a regulator of necroptosis.8 The gene discussed is RIPK1; the disease is inflammatory bowel disease.
