The consumption of walnut in obese individuals with metabolic syndrome resulted in increased levels of serum apolipoprotein A. However, it had no significant effects on the amounts of amyloid A, C‐reactive protein (CRP), fetuin A, E‐selectin, IL‐6, IL‐8, P‐selectin, resistin, soluble vascular cell adhesion protein 1, soluble intercellular adhesion molecules 1 and 3, TNF‐α, and thrombomodulin (Aronis et al. 2012). This evidence concerns the gene SELE and metabolic syndrome.
