Studies suggest that the downregulation of key UFMylation proteins, such as Ubiquitin-Fold Modifier 1 (UFM1), UFBP1, and CDK5RAP3, is closely associated with GC cell proliferation, invasion, and chemotherapy resistance, and multiple signaling pathways are involved, including Wnt/β-catenin, and Phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinase/Protein Kinase B (PI3K/AKT) [5,6]. This evidence concerns the gene CDK5RAP3 and gastric cancer.
