In 7-month-old APP/PS1 mice, a transgenic model of Alzheimer’s disease that expresses the human version of the amyloid polypeptide and a mutant presenilin-1, two months of daily 100 μg/kg liraglutide treatment improved memory function as measured by object recognition and Morris water maze tests, reduced amyloid plaque load, and decreased the frequency of the microglial activation marker Iba-1 (50). Here, PSEN1 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
