Increases were also observed in circulating and hepatic fat markers: ALT rose by 2.45 (2.27–2.64), 4.05 (3.73–4.38), 6.11 (5.59–6.64) and 10.28 (9.69–10.86) U/L across the prediabetes1 and undiagnosed diabetes groups, while triglycerides were higher by 0.25 (0.23–0.26), 0.42 (0.39–0.44), 0.50 (0.46–0.54) and 0.67 (0.63–0.72) mmol/L, respectively, in comparison to the normoglycaemic group. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and diabetes mellitus.
