In clinical studies, increased BRI3BP expression was found to have a significant correlation with advanced T stage, higher histologic grade, residual tumor status, vascular invasion, and elevated alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels (a serum biomarker for HCC), all of which were statistically significant (P < 0.05; Fig. 2a and f; as detailed in Table 1). The gene discussed is AFP; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
