TAX1BP1 and autoimmune disease: Based on previous literature that showed Tax1bp1 protein levels in peripheral blood mononuclear cells correlate with the presence of autoimmune disease [52], 8; and that Tax1bp1 protein expression is partially regulated at the post-translational level [58], we hypothesized that differences in Tax1bp1 protein abundance during Mtb infection may, in part, explain the different phenotypes in BMDMs and AMs.
