Intimate partner violence is shown to be related, for example, with mental health disorders (where genetics have a significant preponderance [11]), substance consumption, and somatic diseases, as obesity, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes (T2D; due to increased cortisol levels and suppressed insulin levels [10]), hypertension (as a result of chronic activation of HPA axis, and autonomic nervous system [9]) among others [6,7,9-13]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
