AXL and melanoma: AXL is a member of the TYRO3, AXL, and MERTK (TAM)-family receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) located upstream of various biological processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration; the AXL gene has been shown to be oncogenic in a range of cancers, including non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and melanoma (1, 2).
