In various neurodegenerative conditions, the accumulation of endogenous STING proteins and the activation of STING signaling in neurons, including Purkinje cells, have been documented in both mouse models and human postmortem brain tissues.16,17 We next investigated whether autonomous STING signaling activation in Purkinje cells would interfere with their function and lead to neurological disorders.
