FABP3 and breast cancer: Hypoxia‐inducible factor‐1 alpha (HIF‐1α) is an essential transcription factor that supports cancer cell survival by up‐regulating the expression of genes involved in proliferation and migration under hypoxia.[13, 14] In our previous studies, it was confirmed that FAs increase HIF‐1α activity in liver, colon, prostate, and breast cancers.[15, 16] Meanwhile, HIF‐1α enhances FAs uptake by inducing the expression of Fatty Acid Binding Protein3 (FABP3), FABP7, and Perilipin‐2 in breast cancer cells, which are critical for cell growth and survival.
