To ensure relevance and quality, studies were included if they met the following criteria: (1) original peer-reviewed research articles written in English, (2) investigations involving either in vivo or in vitro models of skin wound healing, (3) evaluation of TH dysfunction (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, or exogenous hormone administration), and (4) quantification of angiogenic outcomes such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression, hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF-1α) activity, endothelial cell density, or capillary proliferation. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and hyperthyroidism.
