Considering the increasing number of reports linking the IRE1/XBP1s axis with the activation of innate immunity in different biological contexts including ZIKV infection [23,44,45,46], together with our data showing that the virus induces an antiviral response in human microglia, we aimed to determine whether inhibition or activation of IRE1 endonuclease activity affects the antiviral response. The gene discussed is ERN1; the disease is Zika virus infectious disease.
