A recent 12-week, parallel-arm RCT of 210 participants with type 2 diabetes assessed no significant differences in terms of C-reactive protein (CRP) and tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) levels between the intervention group, where sugar/sucrose in coffee or tea was substituted with sucralose and the control group where sugar/sucrose was continued [10]. Here, CRP is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
