PARP1 and neoplasm: Notably, the Ag(NHC)2AgBr2 exerts its antitumor effect through multiple mechanisms: it inhibits Trx-R (thioredoxin reductase), which leads to increased production of free oxygen radicals and the promotion of apoptosis; it inhibits topoisomerase I, leading to DNA molecule damage; and it inhibits PARP-1 (Poly [ADP-ribose] polymerase 1) while quickly and selectively inhibiting glycolysis in tumor cells.
