The beneficial effects of incretin agonists on hepatic steatosis and metabolic parameters have been demonstrated, with a higher level of evidence, in randomized clinical trials such as LEAN [12] and ESSENCE [25], where liraglutide or semaglutide caused MASH remission and, partially, fibrosis regression, although with more modest histological results for fibrosis compared to steatohepatitis remission. The gene discussed is GCG; the disease is fatty liver disease.
