Ellergezen et al. [37], in 35 women with fibromyalgia syndrome treated for 3 months with pregabalin (150 mg/day), reported a significant decrease in plasma levels of proinflammatory cytokines (IL-2, IL-6, IL-12, IL-17, interferon-gamma, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha) compared to non-treated women with fibromyalgia (n = 30) and healthy women (n = 25), suggesting that pregabalin modulates the immune system in neuroinflammatory diseases, such as nociplastic pain and anxiety. This evidence concerns the gene IFNG and fibromyalgia.
