The delivered p28-p53 protein escaped from lysosomes and localized to the nuclei of HCT116 cells (Figure 1A) and was demonstrated to increase the expression of cdkn1a (Figure S3A) and bax (Figure S3B) in both HCT116 and LS174T CRC cells, as well as trigger the G0/G1 phase cell cycle arrest (Figure S4A) and apoptosis (Figure S4B).
