Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), a ligand for lymphocyte function–associated antigen-1 (LFA-1), is markedly upregulated in murine models of acute Coxsackievirus B3-induced myocarditis and remains elevated even during immunosuppressive therapy, suggesting a role in chronic myocardial inflammation. This evidence concerns the gene ICAM1 and inflammatory response.
