VIM and breast carcinoma: Interestingly, despite these differences, a range of identical genes were revealed among the most changed DEGs in these cells, including ABCB1 and ABCB4 in leukemia and breast cancer cells (encode known MDR-associated proteins), as well as VIM in breast cancer and neuroblastoma cells (encodes a cytoskeletal protein crucial for epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), a process tightly associated with cancer drug resistance [55]) (Figure 1A).
