EZH2 and hepatocellular carcinoma: In hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the EZH2 variant that excludes exon 4 is associated with poor survival, whereas the omission of exon 14 (EZH2∆14) gives rise to an isoform with antagonistic functions to the canonical protein, inhibiting H3K27me3 methylation and increasing the stability of target regions in the mRNA, in addition to being positively correlated with patient survival [26,27].
