A recent study—combining an in vivo mouse PCOS model and in vitro analysis of human granulosa cells collected from PCOS and non-PCOS women undergoing in vitro fertilization—suggested that melatonin might improve ovarian mitochondrial dysfunction by regulating the circadian gene clock while also reducing granulosa cell pyroptosis in both of these systems [52].
