Overall milk metabolomic profiles were strongly influenced by study visit (4.0% variance, p < 0.001), and by HIV infection (0.19% variance, p < 0.001), maternal CD4 count (0.14% variance, p < 0.001), maternal BMI (0.12% variance, p < 0.001), and infant sex (0.07% variance, p = 0.009) (Supplementary Fig. 2 and Supplementary Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and HIV infectious disease.
