Notably, these tumor-associated NK cells also upregulated genes indicative of tissue-residency and TGF-β imprinting (Itga1 (CD49a), Tgbf1, Smad7, Pmepa1 or Ski) (Fig. 4G–J and Figure S5-A, B), resembling NK cell populations previously described in primary tumors and liver metastases that exhibit impaired tumor control42–45.
