The pathology report for breast cancer should clarify the benign or malignant nature of breast lesions and provide the following essential information: tumor size, histological type and grade, presence of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), vascular nerve invasion, involvement of the nipple and surgical margins, lymph nodes, and expression of immunohistochemical markers such as estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), HER2, and Ki‐67. This evidence concerns the gene ESR1 and ductal breast carcinoma in situ.
