ACHE and Alzheimer disease: Cholinesterasesacetylcholinesterase(AChE, E.C. 3.1.1.7) and butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE, E.C. 3.1.1.8)areenzymes responsible for the hydrolysis of acetylcholine present inthe synaptic cleft. The inhibition ofcholinesterases has shown positive results in the treatment of individualswith AD.
