SLC5A2 and type 2 diabetes mellitus:
Background
Euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (euDKA) is a rare but potentially life-threatening complication of diabetes, increasingly linked to SGLT-2 inhibitors (SGLT-2i) and, less frequently, GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RA), especially in combination.
Case presentation
We present the case of a 36-year-old man with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes who developed severe euDKA within days of starting combined therapy with semaglutide and dapagliflozin.
