Inflamed-fibrotic tumours exhibited significantly higher expression of signatures related to fibroblast and T cell TGFβ signalling (P = 1.1 × 10−4 and P = 9.1 × 10−5; Fig. 5d,e), and this was in turn positively associated with signatures for cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs; Fig. 5f), immune infiltration (Fig. 5g) and matrix remodelling (Extended Data Fig. 6b). This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and cancer.
