SCARB2 and Gaucher disease: Perturbations of the gut microbiome leading to fat malabsorption and intestinal dysfunction have been described in knockout mice for the SCARB2 gene, which encodes the lysosomal integral membrane protein-2 (LIMP-2) which is fundamental to traffic GCase to the lysosome (Li et al., 2024); however, no report on gut microbiome in patients with Gaucher disease is currently available.
