While BNP levels <35 pg/mL and NT‐proBNP levels <125 pg/mL can be used to ‘rule out’ HF, and a BNP concentration ≥35 pg/mL is associated with an almost 40% risk of HF,23 ‘ruling in’ HF remains more challenging—particularly in asymptomatic individuals. This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and hydrops fetalis.
