CD68 and neoplasm: Previous studies have demonstrated that CD163 is a highly specific marker of M2‐type tumor‐associated macrophages, primarily expressed on the surface of monocytes and macrophages,[41] whereas CD68 is closely associated with the phagocytic activity of macrophages.[42] Thus, the heatmap results are consistent with established immunological knowledge and further confirm that CD68 and CD163 may serve as potential molecular markers for distinguishing MMMΦ.
