Specifically, we propose that SPANXA2-OT1 modulates the chemokine profile of macrophages by acting as a competing endogenous RNA for miR-338, thereby relieving its suppressive effect on IL-8 and promoting IL-8 expression, which, in turn, may enhance macrophage chemotaxis and inflammatory activation in CAD. The gene discussed is CXCL8; the disease is coronary artery disorder.
