CD4 directly reflects the body’s immune competence, and baseline CD4 counts and viral loads are important markers of survival, with lower CD4 cell counts tending to correlate with a poorer prognosis (35), and the results of several studies have shown that the lower the baseline CD4 counts, the worse the prognosis of patients after initiating ART (39–41), and overall CD4 cell counts increase significantly in HIV/AIDS patients treated with ART, reflecting rebuilding of the immune system and restoration of function. Here, CD4 is linked to AIDS.
