Although the tumor reduction was also remarkable for VNPCon-IL2, it caused severe adverse effects, including weight loss (Figure 6A), pulmonary edema (Figure 6B), as indicated by lung wet/dry weight ratios, serum interferon-γ (IFN-γ) levels (Figure 6C), biomarkers of hepatic and renal dysfunction (ALT, AST, BUN, CREA) (Figure 6D-E), as well as lymphocytic infiltration in hepatic and renal tissues (Figure 6F).
