For moderate-to-severe hypoglycemia, independent predictors included older age (OR = 0.973, 95% CI: 0.954 – 0.993, P = 0.007), elevated Charlson comorbidity index (OR = 2.744, 95% CI: 2.141 – 3.517, P < 0.001), increased serum creatinine (OR = 1.005, 95% CI: 1.003 – 1.007, P < 0.001), elevated HbA1c (OR = 10.047, 95% CI: 7.127 – 14.163, P < 0.001), lower mean glucose levels (OR = 0.633, 95% CI: 0.554 – 0.723, P < 0.001), and insulin use (OR = 0.170, 95% CI: 0.086 – 0.336, P < 0.001).
