IFNA2 and chronic hepatitis B virus infection: Despite the widespread availability of effective vaccines and therapy, including immunomodulators (IFN-α-2B and PEG-IFN-α-2A) and reverse transcriptase inhibitors (nucleosides or nucleotide analogues) (Cui et al., 2017), the clinical treatment of chronic hepatitis B still falls short of achieving a satisfactory complete cure.
