MEF2C and Alzheimer disease: Consistently, two inhibitory neuron subclasses with MEF2C as a marker gene – the largest EC subcluster (EC:Inh0, Fig. 3I) and the DLPFC subtype DLPFCInh7 (Fig. 3F) – were over-represented in resilience, underscoring that MEF2C-expressing neurons are preferentially preserved during AD pathogenesis when cognition is maintained.
