APOE and arteriolosclerosis: In minimally adjusted logistic models (age at death, education, sex, and APOE ε4 carrier status), arteriolosclerosis was associated with 72% higher odds of any dementia (global CDR > 0; OR = 1.72, 95% CI 1.15–2.57; p = 0.01), atherosclerosis with 61% higher odds (OR = 1.61, 95% CI 1.07–2.43; p = 0.02), gross infarcts with an almost four-fold higher odds (OR = 3.98, 95% CI 2.29–7.30; p < 0.01), and microinfarcts with nearly doubled odds (OR = 1.95, 95% CI 1.26–3.08; p < 0.01) (Table 2).
