MAPT and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease: The molecular markers of Alzheimer’s disease pathology are classically defined by the presence of extracellular amyloid plaques, primarily composed of aggregated amyloid-beta peptides, and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles, which consist of hyperphosphorylated tau protein (Brion, 1998; Blennow et al., 2006; González et al., 2022b).
