Fujimoto et al. found that serum POSTN levels in patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma were significantly higher than those in patients with chronic progressive liver disease and HCC, suggesting that serum POSTN levels can be used to distinguish cholangiocarcinoma from other liver malignancies (Fujimoto et al., 2011). The gene discussed is POSTN; the disease is intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.
