The immunologic response of hybrid parasite infection was associated with reduced gamma interferon (IFN-γ) and elevated interleukin 4 (IL-4) production compared to parental species and controls (P < 0.05), with no significant differences observed in interleukin 12 (IL-12p40) or interleukin 10 (IL-10). Here, IL4 is linked to parasitic infectious disease.
