When we compared the presence of respiratory viral infection in CF patients during exacerbation, we found a correlation between the presence of any virus and a significantly higher Shwachman–Kulczycki score (p = 0.006) (Figure 2a), a higher Brasfield score (p = 0.002) (Figure 2b), and lower CRP (p = 0.002) (Figure 2a) as compared to the patients during exacerbation without viral infection. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and cystic fibrosis.
