This leads to the production of pro-inflammatory adipokines comprising interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), leptin and resistin which may promote insulin resistance, and conversely reduces the secretion of anti-inflammatory and insulin-sensitizing adipokines such as adiponectin [15,16]. This evidence concerns the gene CCL2 and Insulin resistance.
