Obeticholic acid (OCA) is an orally administered farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist, previously approved at a dosage of 5 and 10 mg as second-line treatment of primary biliary cholangitis [156,202] and now revoked from conditional marketing because its benefits were no longer considered to outweigh the risks of potential adverse events when compared to placebo [203]. Here, NR1H4 is linked to biliary liver cirrhosis.
