In the multivariable analysis (dependent variables: age, diabetes duration, diastolic blood pressure, WHR, AMMi, serum albumin, ALAT, ASAT, GGT, direct bilirubin, SHBG, HOMA-IR, creatinine, hemoglobin, and platelets), serum ferritin levels were correlated independently with diabetes duration, liver enzymes (ASAT, GGT), AMMi, and hemoglobin (Table 3a), while for the rest of the variables, the correlations were non-significant. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and diabetes mellitus.
