SPARCL1 and ischemic stroke: Table 2 presents the SPARCL1 genotype frequencies in patients with ischemic stroke and control participants. AORs were calculated via logistic regression while controlling for age, sex, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, and smoking. Genotype frequencies in both groups conformed to Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium expectations (p > 0.05). The SPARCL1 rs1049544 G>C polymorphism showed a significant association with ischemic stroke prevalence (GG vs. CC: AOR = 0.642, 95% CI = 0.418–0.987, p = 0.043; GG + GC vs. CC: AOR = 0.672, 95% CI = 0.455–0.993, p = 0.046).
