HIF1A and endometrial cancer: Caselli et al. and Crooks et al. provided mechanistic insights into how Porphyromonas somerae may influence the development or progression of endometrial cancer: through direct invasion of epithelial cells, P. somerae may evade immune surveillance and modulate host intracellular metabolism, including the production of succinate, a metabolite known to stabilize HIF-1α, a driver of cancer progression.
